Beaded Mittens Workshop with Fiona Morris
Tue 5th November @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm| £45
Beads can be worked in knitting in a number of ways. In this workshop we will make a beaded mitten using 2 methods of including beads in knitting. As well as learning to knit with beads you will learn a picot cast on and knitting in the round on either 2 circulars, 1 circular using the magic loop or double pointed needles
You will need:
- Either two 3mm x 60cm circular needles, one 3mm x 100cm circular needle or a set of 3mm double pointed needles
- seed beads in size 8 or 7 approx. 30 to 40gms (beads will be available to purchase at the workshop)
- 4ply yarn
- Stitch markers
- Spare yarn in a contrast colour and a blunt sewing needle
- Magnetic Chart holder (if you have one).
I will provide a beading needle for threading the beads onto the yarn and I will have beading mats for you to use on the day to hold the beads while threading. If you have a beading needle or beading mat yourself you are very welcome to bring it with you.
A selection of size 8 and size 7 seed beads will be available to purchase on the day.
Knitting in the round, threading beads onto yarn before starting to knit, picot cast on, placing beads between purl stitches, place beads on a slipped stitch, knitting a thumb gusset, picking up stitches to knit a thumb, following a beaded slip stitch chart.
