Introduction to the Double Knitting Technique with Nicky Barfoot
Sat 2nd November @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm| £25
Suitable for everyone who can cast on, cast off, knit and purl.
Working from a chart, learn how to create a double sided fabric, adorned with a simple motif, in two colours.
During this three hour workshop you will be introduced to the double knitting technique where a double thickness, stocking stitch fabric is created in one go. This technique is perfect for knitting scarves, blankets, collars, cushions, tea cosies, i.e. any item where both sides are on show, or where an extra thick fabric is required. Working on a small sample featuring a simple heart motif, Nicky will show you how to interpret a two colour knitting chart for this technique. Suitable cast on and bind off methods will also be discussed.
Attendees will need to bring two contrasting colours of a DK or worsted weight yarn along with the appropriate needles for the chosen yarn weight. Also bring a ruler (or a magnetic board if you already have one) to help you to keep your place on the chart. Pen/pencil and scissors will also be useful.
