Transform your own doodles into original art work using simple hand embroidery stitches.  This course is suitable for everyone who can thread a needle and hold a pencil.

Description

In the first section of this three hour workshop you will be working with pen and paper creating playful imagery that comes from your subconscious and reflects your personality. If you are not a seasoned doodler do not worry as hints, tips and prompts will be given to help you to connect to these, whether they be animals, plants, architecture, landscape or abstract.

You will then be shown how to transfer your imagery on to fabric for hand stitching. Suitable embroidery stitches will be discussed with tailored guidance and help given by the tutor on an individual basis.

Materials

Paper, a piece of fabric, and a selection of stranded embroidery threads will be provided.

Attendees will need to bring a pen (biro or felt tip), a pencil, a rubber, and a simple sewing kit consisting of embroidery needle(s) and scissors for snipping thread.

If you have them, you may also like to bring embroidery threads/colours that you particularly like to work with. Also an embroidery hoop (8 inch max), if you like to work with one.
